Jack of All Trades

No, I don't just let my two and a half year old have pop any time he pleases.

As a matter of fact, we spent much of the morning with this line of questioning:

J: Mama, can I have some pop?
M: No Jack. We are not having pop.

A few minutes later:

J: Mama, can I have some pop?
M: No Jack. We are not having pop.

If you know my son at all, you already know that he is very persistent...especially when he wants something.

Much to my surprise, although, I don't know why I was surprised, I found my son with this now open can of Coke in his hand. Yes, open. No, I did not open it for him. I asked him how he got that open. He said, "I will show you," and came back with the fondue fork that he used to pry the top open with.

Now, the question of the day...Do I reward him for his resourcefulness in getting said can open or do I give him a consequence for his disobedience?

Cute story! I don't think a reward is needed but laughing behind closed doors for sure. And I am thinking that maybe the fact that he has access to a sharp fonude fork is equally as bad as drinking the coke! :)

Just kidding. He is very resourceful!

I agree Tina! The fact that he found the fondue fork did scare me a little bit!! As far as the consequence...well, lets just say that Coke was only in his hand for about the second it took me to snap that picture! :) Got to preserve these memories for laughs later!

LOL Oh Jack. Oh Jack Jack Jack. If you and Lily would ever get married and have kids, the world could not handle it. It would implode... Marlene, you are an excellent mom in every way. Keep up the good work! See what intelligent boys you are raising! In fifteen years, if I have a problem, I'm calling Jack.

How about the reward negates the consequence!?
