The Joy of Shaving Cream

I love shaving cream.

I think the smell is what I love best. Then there is the texture and soft feel on your hands. And you can squish it, slap your hands together with it to make a mess, and you can write in it.

Take shaving cream and mix it with a little food coloring - well, then you have a green toddler.

Today we did an art project with shaving cream...a project that was recommended for backyard fun. I think the hose would have made for easier clean-up...but green tub water is fun too!

Here is a recipe for the project we worked on today:
Pretty Marbled Paper
(from Family Fun Magazine, modified slightly!)

You will need:
- a baking sheet with rim
-shaving cream
-squeegee
-liquid food coloring
-a stick of some sort
-card stock
-something to wipe your hands (or your body if you are Jack) with!

What to do:
1. Cover the baking sheet with a half-inch layer of shaving cream. Smooth it with the squeegee. (we used our hands - it was more fun and messy)
2. Dot the cream with drops of food coloring, then use the stick to swirl it in the cream.
3. Lay a sheet of card stock on top of the cream and press lightly. Peel off the paper and use the squeegee to remove excess shaving cream. Set the paper aside to dry.
