He Is Risen Indeed!

We hope that your family had a wonderful time celebrating this past weekend! We rejoice knowing that our Savior rose and that death did not defeat him. Praise God for his gracious love and mercy! This time of year reminds me most of new life and growth! It is an exciting time. I just noticed little buds on our River Birch trees and there is new growth all around us. The tulips and daffodils are blooming! There is new life and beauty everywhere!

With spring arriving all over the world, Minnesota boasts a time where anything can happen. Here are some beautiful pictures I took the other morning of our "Tapestry Bend."

And, because of the fun variety of weather in Minnesota, we can do things like this:

Yes, this snowman was HUGE, and yes, Jeremy's back was a little sore for the rest of Saturday!

He really was giggling when we were making the snow angel...

Peek-A-Boo Snowman!

Thank you God for snow and family fun!

PS...our snowman toppled over today because the temperature is spring like again!

Hockey Fun!

Jeremy went to play a pick-up game of hockey this week on some very familiar ice...Polar Arena. He dusted off his HUGE hockey bag, dug out his skates and stick and hit the ice. Jack and I went with to watch the game. It was fun. Jack sat in the stands with an animal cracker in each hand and watched the players go back and forth! Jeremy said he was a little sore after the game...he remarked that it was funny how someone who can run so many miles can get tired from playing, but hockey uses different muscles! He played hard. It was a great way to cross-train as he prepares for the Grandma's Marathon in June. He even scored THREE goals! Thanks for the invite Mark!

On the move...

I think every parent can attest to the fact that once kids are mobile - all life changes. This is true in our house. The latest and greatest movement of Jack is pulling himself up in his crib. He finally started doing this at church in the nursery on Sunday. Last night in the middle of the night he woke up, and pulled himself up too. Once he was into the standing position he didn't know what to do, so he cried out for help. Today, during his morning nap, he pulled himself up, walked himself over to the musical rain forest attached to his crib, turned the music on, laid himself back down and fell asleep. What a funny boy! :)

Hello, Is there an Emergency?

Jack LOVES to play with our phone - he especially loves to push the buttons. He hasn't called anyone on it (yet). We were excited about this interest and decided to allow him to play with some of our old cell phones. No harm, right?

Well, just the other day my friend Rachel was telling me that she was allowing her daughter, Kalea, to play with her Blackberry when it is locked. The only thing is that when she locks her Blackberry there is still an "Emergency Call" feature that you can hit to make an emergency phone call. Well, Kalea, in her delight of pushing buttons and rolling the "pearl" unintentionally made an emergency call. We laughed, and made mental notes about being very careful while letting our children play with phones.

The next day I arrived home to find Jack playing with his cell phones. Jeremy mentioned that he charged up the old phones so Jack could hear the sounds and see the lights. Sounds like a good idea. There was no SIM card, so calls couldn't be made. I shared this funny story with Jeremy as a word of caution. Just as I was finishing the story, I heard someone's voice on the phone, confused I looked at the screen to see "Emergency Call." Immediately I picked up the phone to hear a women on the other end saying, "Hello, Is there an emergency?" I assured her that there was not and that our son had called by mistake. I apologized and hung up as soon as I could. We took the phones away and let them lose their charge. He now plays with uncharged phones and seems to be just as happy to push buttons without lights and sound! :)

So, please make a mental note: charged cell phones without service or a SIM card can make emergency phone calls.
