Bright Lights

Last night we left our house at about 6:00 with high hopes of giving Jack a first experience of gazing at beautiful Christmas Lights. Our good friends recommended one particular house in Shoreview that they deemed, "The Best Christmas Lights Ever." We had to check it out.

We had received an email with all the details that we needed to find the place. Now Jack is still a little sick - and made it clear after we were well on our way that he was not interested in sitting in his car seat for longer periods of time (anything in excess of five minutes would be a long period of time...). Nonetheless, we had to see this house. Being that I had only glanced at this email and forgot my phone at home we were in the hunt and our only clue was that the house was near the intersection of 96 and Hodgeson.

Picture if you will: Jack screaming, me sitting in the back seat trying to soothe this sick child and calling my mom on Jeremy's phone to check my email so she can tell us where the house is on speaker phone, Jeremy driving mindlessly in every direction near the intersection while his frustration increasingly grows, and my mom experiencing every possible problem getting her brand new computer to "dial-up" to the Internet (she was so sweet to do this for us!!).

BREATHE.

My mom says she will call me back once she figures out how to get online. I sing "The Wheels on the Bus" - AGAIN! Jeremy heads south of 96 this time. My mom dials us back just as we turn West on Snail Lake. We find the house at the exact moment that my mom reads the email. :) It was definitely a treasure. We tune in the dial and watch in amazement asking ourselves over and over - HOW DID THEY DO THAT?? Jack loved it too - for a little while...but then he realized he was still in his car seat! Good times!

MAN PROJECTS

Jeremy loves to work with his hands and has been finding all sorts of manly projects to do around the house. First it was making shelves for the garage. Next it was upgrading to even manlier shelves for the storage area in the basement. Recently he has found himself being the general contractor of finishing off the bonus space and the garage.

These construction projects lend themselves to many trips to Menards (Jeremy's favorite store) and funny little twists - like the latest one where we forgot to put more outlets in the garage before we had it insulated and sheet rocked! (OOPS! This project is going much faster than we anticipated so it was a quick decision that we should have thought out!) The good news is that these twists usually give Jeremy and his dad, Jim, some good bonding time as they correct any problems.

Once this project is done Jeremy is going to need another. Any ideas? Maybe a play-yard for Jack this spring?

Elf'ed

We have been elf'ed a few times now. I thought that I was just going to find another game where you bowl over the elves, throw snowballs at penguins, or draw hills for sleds...but I was pleasantly surprised to find a few friends and my parents dancing as elves! Connect to the link below and watch us dance! (ps...it might be one of the only times you see Jeremy dance!!)
